Alas some down time to write. Earlier today (2:45) my parents, brother,
grandpa and i headed for Wyoming with our trailer loaded and our
4-wheelers ready to go. I got lucky and ended up in the one truck with
just my dad. I immediately pulled out my book and dove in. I didnt want
to see orem anymore and i didnt want to be reminded of all my worries. 7
chapters later i look up and decide to put the book down. Me and dad
start talking about all sorts of things which eventually leads to
everything i am currently going through. My dad is great with advice. When boys come up and i spill all the beans about my dating life my dad
has nothing but good insight and uplifting words. We talk a lot about my
recent ex who my family loves and adores. We didn't split over a fight
or loss of interest in each other it was because of his mission. He got
his call and will be opening it sunday but i will be here till tuesday.
anyway my dad said A LOT of things i needed to hear when it comes to
Tay. That advice i will keep to myself. But it was all so comforting. We
also talked about me, my future, job, school and career. Talking with
my dad really helped me sort it all out. We also talked about me and who
i am. Hearing how my dad see's me helped remind me who i really am and
that is a smart, independent, dedicated, hard working, witty, beautiful,
loving, caring individual. It was nice to be reminded that i AM a good
person. I know i am. We just talked so much it lifted a bunch off my
chest and its cheaper than a therapist thats for sure! soon enough we
stop at mcdonald's in evanston i eat my burger to go before we're even
out the door! my mom decided to switch to our truck so i settle in the
backseat and read some more, then i remember how beautiful the drive is
so i pull out my ipod and turn on my country music to get me in the mood
(t-swift, kenny chesney, brad paisly, tim mcgraw and carrie underwood)
Im feeling great. There are dark heavy storm clouds and intense
lightning is shooting from them, its beautiful! but we head in the
opposite direction of them. The rest of the drive to alpine i rotate
between reading, music and chatting with my parents. Life is good right
now. We stop in alpine for last minute things such as ice and eggss. Its
the last time i will have service but i havent really been texting
anyone all day anyway but i get a call from a friend and he tells me to
be safe, have fun, and that he'll miss me. Then we head up the canyon,
its 8:45. The smell of pine trees is strong and i feel at home. There
are fire restrictions which is a HUGE BUMMER. We drive and drive looking
for a good campsite. We take this trip every summer so we have a few
favorite spots. Its 9:30 and we are losing all hope of finding a good
spot plus we have to set up in the dark. Our last hope is moose flat. Me
and my mom's personal favorite spot but were all thinking we wont get
that lucky. But we do! we pull into our favorite site ever. By 10:30 we
are settled in. It's weird not to have kelli and katie and their
husbands here with us as well as the dogs but i will still make the best
of this trip! Me and kyle are sharing a tent so grandpa can sleep in
the trailer, another first but i dont mind. We are RIGHT by the river,
its such a soothing, familiar sound. I know this area in Wyoming so well
its like my neighborhood. I love it. Off to bed now.
